17 May 2010 Luck isn't always on my side

Hey Pops
Basically I have the worst luck in the whole world, over the last few days i have learned a little bit about aguantar, which basically means to put up with. The missionary work is doing great, Just I have been hit in the face with some bullcrappity type things in the real people stuff. Our Dueña, landlady, has been hounding us to move for a while now, but we can´t find a house... so this month she raised the rent 1000 pesos, or about 50 bucks. We get the money for rent from the mission offices, so I wasn´t too worried. but the offices didn´t get the notice, and for some reason even though she called them, only gave me the old amount. So I am living $50 short this month, out of $150. So, until they fix it, sounds like rice and 12 peso milk, delicious.

Also, last week we went and bought blankets, because its getting nippy outside, and we had the other elders take some of our stuff home, because my comp had errands to run. So like an hour later, we get home and I go to look for my stuff... yep. Left it on the bus. I don´t blame him, it was just a human mistake, and he can repent right? :) haha. But in my lost bag was my hymn book, with duct tape cover, a tie, my lucky charms, the old nike watch :,( and my Adidas. It was like I lost all of my soccer talent right there. Because I really don´t have any, wearing soccer shoes made it look like I was great. Good thing I brought my plaid slip ons!

That is enough bummer vibe for one day. There are these two kids who we are teaching that are way cool... G and B, they are 11 and 13 years old. They are getting baptized the 29th of this month, so we told them they had to come to church this week. They both had stuff going on, one had Tae Kwon Do, and the other one Fútbol... but they both came to church... I was so excited! In sacrament meeting I sat next to them and made them sing the hymns, hehe. They are still young enough that the missionaries are super cool, so we had a grand old time... besides that we have 4 or 5 other investigators who the force is very strong with... I mean they are progressing real nice. haha

Well I'm all bubbly happy down here.
love you guys, enjoy DC!

Hi Mommy!!!
I can´t believe you guys have been married for so dang long, I wish I could get a nice pastry at Holly B´s, even healthy American food sounds good to me right now. That is so awesome that you have a cool husband who calls audibles, and even more cool that you know what an audible is... my wife has gotta understand football terms, that's probably the number one quality I am looking for... hahaha.

This week the goal for our district was to find new investigators, so that is what me and the c-inator did, we found 11 new people to teach this week, super tight. My comp is really good at just teaching kinda right from the beginning, like almost not letting them say no at all.

I bought a coat today for to be warm, that's my crappy Latino English, for to be warm.
Well I love you a butt load (how many guys fit in a butt load- Brother Roberts) talk to y'all in a week.

3 May 2010

First a note from Mom...
After loving reminders from Barry fans everywhere I am finally sitting myself down to catch up on "The Mission".
Barry is well. He does receive and appreciate your letters but with only a few hours a week for personal time it's hard to write very many letters. He loves you all, he is so proud of all the many friends who are receiving mission calls and every time we tell him another friend has sent in their papers he says two things: 1."He'll be a great missionary!" and 2."Maybe he'll come to Uruguay and I can be his trainer."

And now a word from our Barry:

Hey Dad,
Usually the buses here are nice charter bus type things. but the one we took from The Stones to Deo was way junky and a super bumpy ride. I had to stand up for the first half, because the seats were full, so it was like the secret recipe for a yakk attack.

I am so jealous about your excursion into Seattle, I miss music like crazy, me and the Canadian elder, Elder C and I went to a music store in the bus station and just looked, wow it really took me back to the olden days, they had tons of American music.
I remember 5th grader night at the Middle School like it was yesterday, I still wasn´t even sure if I was going to MMS yet, but they had root beer floats so obviously I choose there, haha just kidding.

That is so cool about chin and NF sending in their papers, its so weird to hear though, it makes me feel so old, chin is almost a whole year younger than me...

Hey peace out Dad, I love you and miss you a ton
